With classic cars, one would have ordinary discoveries, and the second category are rediscovered legends. The tales of the lost garages, dusty barns, and the lost treasures have always been attractive to the enthusiasts. In many cases, such stories result in deteriorated old cars of low prices. However, there are occasions, when a discovery occurs that is so extraordinary that it seems as though the discovery is a lost fragment of history. Such unique experiences get the imagination of the whole car industry and it is not merely nostalgia but a breathing link to the past.

This was the same case with a recent episode of the Jay Leno Garage, as people got to see a show that shocked the collector world. One of the first automobile unrestored vehicles to be publicly shown in almost half a century was a 1956 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Alloy Gullwing. Having been produced just 29 times, the car is a phantom of the golden era of motorsport which has been lying dormant in Los Angeles over the decades. Its estimated value?
