For a time people thought about flying cars as something that could only happen in movies or books. We saw pictures of cities where people drove through the air of sitting in traffic on the road. This idea was really exciting. It seemed like something that would happen a long time from now not something we would see in our lifetime.

What is different about today is that flying cars are actually close to becoming a part of our daily lives. Because of technologies like electric cars, better engineering and smaller engines we now have the tools we need to make flying cars real. Of just building special planes or drawing pictures companies are now making cars that can drive on the road and fly through the air.

Alef Aeronautics, a company in California is doing some cool work in this area. They built a car called the Model A. This project is not about trying out new technology it is about changing the way people get around cities. Because the government is starting to make rules, for flying cars because we have working prototypes and because people are getting more interested we are no longer asking if flying cars are possible we are asking when we will have them.
